Reflecting on Weight Loss Surgery

I have done a lot of reflecting on my Weight Loss Surgery as I spent my 46 birthday in Costa Rica on the beach, hiking to see an amazing waterfall, zip lining and ATV riding through the jungle and knowing none of this would have been possible if I had not made the decision 13 years ago to have weight loss surgery. At 33, when I decided to have surgery, I was 33 and a hundred pounds overweight. I had 2 little boys 5 and 2, and just making it through the day trying to care for and play with them, running a business and taking care of the house and the day was exhausting.

Then I had the “lightbulb” moment and knew I had to do something to change my life.

I wanted desperately to have a healthier and happier life for and with my boys. And yes it is a fabulous “tool” as we say, but I knew that day I would do anything and everything I could to achieve it. Making that decision was the start of a transformed life. Has it always been easy the last 13 years, well no. But, it has so been worth it. I have been so blessed to have had both the personal and professional experience as a nurse, educator and coach to help so many others also have a healthier and happier life.

If you or someone you know needs assistance, please have them reach out to me. I will share some pictures of the trip, and hope that it will inspire someone to dream of what life can and will be when the shackles of obesity are removed.
